KLAUS KOTHER
From Music to Motorsport.
From Fashion to Visual Art.
Klaus Kother is a German artist, designer, musician and entrepreneur whose work combines decades of experience across music, fashion, motorsport and international business.
Long before the creation of PAINTED SOUND, guitars had already accompanied every stage of his life. As a musician, designer and guitar specialist, he spent more than four decades immersed in the culture surrounding music, instruments and artistic expression.
THE FASHION FOUNDATION
Founder and Creative Director of ROX Fashion and TARA Couture, Klaus Kother developed collections that combined rock-and-roll aesthetics with handcrafted design and luxury materials. His work connected fashion, stage performance and visual storytelling.
THE MUSIC CONNECTION
As Store and Project Manager of MJ Guitars Munich, working alongside Matthias Jabs of the Scorpions, Kother gained rare insight into the world of iconic instruments, musicians and collectors.
Over the years, professional relationships and creative collaborations connected him to internationally recognized artists, musicians, technicians and industry professionals.
THE ENTREPRENEURIAL PERSPECTIVE
Alongside his creative work, Kother spent decades building businesses and working in international sales, finance and entrepreneurial ventures. These experiences shaped his understanding of value, documentation, presentation and long-term vision.
PAINTED SOUND
PAINTED SOUND emerged as the convergence of these worlds.
What began as the restoration and transformation of individual guitars evolved into a growing body of contemporary artworks. Each work combines music, memory, material and personal experience within a unique visual language.
The project is not a departure from previous chapters of his life.
It is their continuation in artistic form.
"WHERE MUSIC BECOMES VISUAL MEMORY"
PAINTED SOUND is built upon some of the most iconic instruments in modern music culture.
Each guitar carries its own history before the artistic process even begins.
Through layers of paint, texture, symbolism and material, these instruments are transformed into unique contemporary artworks that preserve and reinterpret their cultural resonance.
What remains is more than an object.
It is a visual record of music, memory and personal experience.

THE COLLECTION
25 completed works.
3 new works currently in progress.
A growing artistic archive created on some of the most iconic guitar forms in music history.
Each work is unique, documented and part of the evolving PAINTED SOUND cycle.
THE PAINTED SOUND CYCLE
A growing archive of visual music.
Built upon iconic instruments, each work transforms a guitar into a unique contemporary artwork—combining memory, material, symbolism and cultural resonance.
• Original hand-painted works
• Complete thematic cycles and series
• Mixed-media techniques and layered surfaces
• Signed, numbered and fully documented originals
• Part of an evolving artistic body of work
Before they become artworks, these guitars already carry stories.
Music, memory and time are embedded in their material long before the first layer of paint is applied.
