KLAUS KOTHER
From Music to Motorsport.
From Fashion to Visual Art.
Klaus Kother is a German artist, designer, musician and entrepreneur whose work brings together more than four decades of experience across music, fashion, motorsport, digital innovation and international business.
Long before the creation of PAINTED SOUND, guitars had already accompanied every stage of his life. As a musician, designer, guitar specialist and creative entrepreneur, he spent more than four decades immersed in the culture surrounding music, instruments and artistic expression.
THE FASHION FOUNDATION
As Founder and Creative Director of ROX Fashion and TARA Couture, Klaus Kother developed collections that combined rock-and-roll aesthetics with handcrafted design, premium materials and visual storytelling.
His work united fashion, stage performance and artistic identity into a distinctive creative language.
THE MUSIC CONNECTION
As Store and Project Manager of MJ Guitars Munich, working alongside Matthias Jabs of the Scorpions, Kother gained rare insight into the world of iconic instruments, internationally recognized musicians and dedicated collectors.
Over the years, professional relationships and creative collaborations connected him with artists, musicians, technicians, designers and industry professionals around the world.
THE ENTREPRENEURIAL PERSPECTIVE
Alongside his creative work, Kother spent decades building businesses, developing digital projects, working in international sales and finance, and participating in entrepreneurial and investment-related ventures.
These experiences shaped his understanding of value, provenance, documentation, presentation and long-term artistic vision.
PAINTED SOUND
"WHERE MUSIC BECOMES VISUAL MEMORY"
PAINTED SOUND is built upon some of the most iconic instruments in modern music culture.
Each guitar carries its own history long before the artistic process begins.
Through layers of colour, texture, symbolism and material, these instruments are transformed into unique works of contemporary art that preserve and reinterpret their cultural resonance.
What emerges is more than an object.
It becomes a visual record of music, memory and human experience.

THE COLLECTION
28 documented artworks
3 new works currently in development
An expanding artistic archive created upon some of the most iconic instruments in modern music culture.
Each work is unique, permanently documented and forms part of the official PAINTED SOUND Catalogue Raisonné.
THE PAINTED SOUND OEUVRE
Before they become artworks, these guitars already carry stories.
Music, memory and time are embedded in their material long before the first layer of paint is applied.
Every PAINTED SOUND work continues that story.
